There are probs a lot treads on this but here it goes.

I want to get OS x Lion for a friend and the only way to do it is to download it..

Is there any way for me to get a legit copy of lion (buy it) and put it onto a USB drive for him to install it onto his MBP?

Thanks x

It is not released in the UK yet and it's a present :) I'm nice like that.. It's a better engine (Lion) so to make his life easier with lion I want to get him it.

Any other Suggestions?

Thankss x

You can do:
1) Those options listed above
2) Have your friend authorize your MBP in iTunes/App Store for his account, and purchase and download Lion via his account, copy onto a USB then install it. Deauthorize your computer from his iTunes/App Store.

I have a suggestion.

Have your "Friend" look at the online apple store in the UK because Lion has been there for a while.

You can even order the thumb drive from the UK online store.

Could I also get it from iTunes myself and simply give him my Apple ID? Or will that clash went using his own iTunes ID, iCloud etc?

Thanks x

I wouldn't give anyone your Apple ID, and yes it would conflict later with his own. Perhaps the Give a Gift option in the iTunes Store is the better plan for what you want to do. That way no Apple IDs/authorizations need to be exchanged.

This. And if that doesn't work for some reason, you could get your friend an iTunes gift card to cover the price of Lion.
