Help, please? I downloaded & installed the latest safari on my snow leopard macbook pro when my gmail said I needed to upgrade my browser. I then got the message that my OS wasn't compatible with this version of safari, leaving me now with no internet access. A computer specialist said my OS could be upgraded to Maverick, but when I went to the Apple store, there was no Maverick upgrade offered.

Can anyone give me advice on how to proceed, short of doing a complete reinstall to factory new? I'd possibly need a disc to install maverick as my MacBook can't access the internet (I'm currently posting from someone else's PC :-/ )

Mavericks is gone from the app store since Yosemite came out. If you machine is on this list and will run Mavericks, it will also run Yosemite... so you can just go with that.

But it will need to be downloaded from the Internet on a Mac in some way.

Is it just Safari on your Mac that won't work, or can you not access the Internet at all. Try to launch the App Store app and if that can reach the Internet you can just use it to DL and install Yosemite.

Thanks!

Thank you, Weaselboy-- it looks like my MacBook is compatible with Yosemite, and happily, I can access the app store without safari. Much appreciated, you're a star~
