I am a director of photography and like to collect footage of my work when I can. Up to now I've kept them in labeled folders. I've recently started learning FCX (from FCP) and like the ability to preview video files. It would be a great organizational tool to easily see what I've shot.

But I do not like its binning. It's keywords are no help for my purposes. I want to keep each project separate and don't want dozens of events.

I'm reminded of ACDSee which I used for PC some 15+ years ago and its ability to let you keep your folder structure while you quickly choose where you want to look. It was for photos at the time but gave you quick previews of everything.

I've tried Path Finder which does a good job but not quite there. I wanted to hear what others are using. Anyone?
