Hey, guys. I have been browsing the board and need a little help.
To start off, I am a pc guy where almost everything is interchangeable and swapping something is very easy. My girlfriend, on the other hand loves her imac (I think it is a g5. dual core, usb and other ports are horizontal towards the bottom on the back of the monitor, she just knows she loves it :p) except for the flickering the lcd started doing. She took it in to the genius bar and they did some tests (changing resolution and whatnot) and determined the lcd is going bye-bye. Being a pc guy I am used to old school monitors that you just plug in, but the mac has the screen on it much like a laptop. I found a couple tutorials on how to replace the hard drive and something else (which involve removing the monitor) so I am good on disassembly, but I can not find a good price for a replacement lcd. I read on here that the 20" imacs use the same screen as a dell monitor, is there a 17" monitor that is cheaper than the replacement imac lcd that I can use the lcd out of?
Or, and forgive me if this is a stupid question among mac users, is there an easy way to hook up an external monitor without sacrificing image quality as she watches movies a lot and likes a good picture?

Thank you,
Jason

EDIT: I just did a search on apples website and it has the Isight and the specs apple has on the monitor are 17-inch (viewable) widescreen TFT active-matrix LCD, 1440 x 900 pixels, millions of colors.
