Silly I know....but if I am running out of space on my iMac that has 2 free memory slots...can I just add additional RAM to be able to store more photos or would I need a bigger hard drive??

You will need a larger or additional hard drive or solid state drive. RAM will not increase storage capacity.

RAM is memory. Hard drives and SSDs are storage. You can't store your photos or anything else in RAM. You need a bigger hard drive, or an external drive to store some of your data.

So glad I asked, thanks for the help. I will buy an external hard drive and move pictures onto that.
