Need my "fix" of volume

Looking for some new speakers to put up in my room. Can either be 5.1 or just 2.1, but they need to be LOUD. Preferably plug and play, no funky adapters. Price range of $180-$300 (absolute maximum). Will look at any brand except for Bose.

Bringing some research to the table (i.e. asking for a comparison between 2 sets) is much nicer than making us your own personal search engine.

Whats your problem with Bose? IMO they are the best for clarity and dependability.

I've got a whole surround sound by them aswell as Companion 2s and in-ear Headphones, all of which broke/suck.
