I need to add an Apple TV4K in my bedroom. Is there any reason not to purchase one now versus waiting for a new version? Thanks for the help.

Need New Apple TV 4K

If you need one now, you should probably just get one now.
No one know when (if) Apple will release a new ATV, and the rumors haven't been too exciting.
The rumors of an A12 ATV have been around, but even if it is true, the A12 isn't that much better than the current A10X in real world use.
I bought one yesterday. 32GB, never even really understood what an ATV really needs storage for anyway.
I wanted to wait just on principle but couldn't since I canceled cable 10 days ago.
At the end of the day what does it do? It streams Hulu Live, Netflix, and iTunes movies, and will be able to do 4K material when it becomes widespread.
Other than that, there's literally nothing I ask of my ATV - I'd still be using the ATV 3 it replaced from like 2011 or 2012 but Hulu Live requirements forced the upgrade.

The storage is for cache, apps which can add up, screen savers and of course, games.
If you buy film from iTunes, you'll find that 4K Dolby Vision is extremely widespread along with Netflix in 4K Dolby Vision too.
Conventional TV may not be in 4K but IMO they are last century and don't make an impact today - it's all about the new crowd today for the 21st century
Compared to your old ATV, you'll find frame rate match on this new one, Dolby Atmos and 60 frames per second usability and lightning speed with beautiful U.I.

I am thinking of replacing the Apple TV in my room as well. 2 gb ram and A8 is really showing its age with the new tvOS and some of the games noticeably lagging or even quitting on me.
I guess I can wait until tv+ is released, else I will likely pick up a refurbished 4K tv for the free subscription.
