Does anybody have experience with after market chargers. My cable is fraying at the connection point to the MBP.

Never ever get an aftermarket charger for your Mac. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a fake charger screw up a system.

iCheddar is right. Always get an Apple branded one. But if it is fraying and it is relatively new, walk that sucker into an Apple store and complain. As much as I like Apple, their chargers have blown chunks for a while. I have had to exchange 3 of them in the last 5 years.

You can easily repair the cord.

It really bothers me how 99% of broken apple magsafe chargers are caused by a damaged cable, and they are just thrown away! They should have a replaceable cord that plugs in, like the iPad/iPhone chargers.

It's worth to buy genuine apple magsafe. If you buy after market charger you can damage your mac or harm you. I bought aftermarket magsafe before for cmbp and It was not well built or safe so I return it.
