Any portable-sized hard drive will be bus-powered if it's made in the past couple of years. No experience with that one personally, but here is a link to its Amazon page for $50 less.

Price is kinda steep I know, but I wanted one that was bus powered. Also has a 3 year factory warranty.

Its for a MBP 2011 and for backing up music, photos, time machine so don't need anything to elaborate.

Anyone have experience or own this one?
I am using the Toshiba Canvio 1TB drive which is USB powred, USB 3 and available for less than $100. In fact I saw it in BJ wholesalers yesterday for $89. Very happy with it.

Actually I was looking at those drives too. The G-drives are expensive, I can get a 1TB for alot less than the G drive if i keep looking. Thanks for the reply s.

Ooops. That one at Amazon is USB only, while the OP's link is for one with FW800.
