I am buying a new Apple soon and I have two setups in mind.

1.) Buy a 20" iMac maxed out and a MacBook Air, with back to my Mac.
2.) MacBook Pro, that is maxed out.

What do you think I should get. There is not a big difference in price between the two set ups.

Any suggestions would be great.

My suggestion is not to max out the RAM from Apple, get third party. 4 GB is about $100 shipped.

Unless you really need the portability, get an iMac and a macbook. You really have to travel a lot to get the most out of the Air, and I still find it to be quite underpowered for the price.

I agree, we have both and they're great!!

Well with the air it would not be intensively used. Mostly for school and what not. If I needed to do something I could always use back to my mac and connect to my home iMac to do things too.

Even if you're not doing processor-intense stuff on there, is it still worth all the extra money and inability to upgrade in the future? It could be, but for many it isn't.
