Note that I didn't say I need a case...
So, here's the deal. I use my phone a lot and for a lot of things. I work remote so often take business calls on the phone. It's my music and navigation device via an excellent panavise mount in the car. I kayak/go to the beach/go out on the boat (where it's clamped into another mount) almost every weekend. It's in almost constant use.
So, I tried a LifeProof fre. I had some audio issues which was a show-stopper on work calls. Worse than that, the case would flex and bubble when clamped into the car or boat mounts. I tried a defender and it was perfectly adequate however it seemed to get stuck on everything and eventually the screen oiled up. It wasn't 'waterproof' but seemed fairly resistant.
I would really like a rigid-sided case with a glass screen protector. The Incipio Atlas fits the bill and the Survivor + Catalyst is rigid so it should work however I hear both have similar audio issues to the Fre.
I really like the look, durability, and screen protector on the TakTik however it's not fully waterproof. I'm wondering if I need it to be though? I don't want to take pictures or video in the water but would like something that could survive if it was dunked over-board or caught an errant wave.
I was looking at those 'dumb' waterproof shells with no access to the ports when around water, something like the iContact, and I wouldn't mind removing a waterproof shell after we leave the water but it looks like only the naked phone fits in to most of those so then I'd be re-installing my 'daily' case after using it each time.
Plastic bag-style protection is what I'm using now. That's kinda-ok at the beach and tolerable in a kayak but in the mount on the boat it simply doesn't cut it.
Suggestions and advice appreciated.
