Hey guys,

there is a Kingston 2.5'' SSD HyperX 3K 120GB (Serial ATA 3) on sale in Poland for $123 (instead of original price of $182).

First of all the question is: is it worth it? I've browsed the forum and when there's talk of SSDs it's usually about Samsung, Crucial, OCZ, Intel... Is this Kingston a good SSD? Has anyone tried it in their MBP?

Now the second issue is the whole connection thing - I've read the SSD guide but not sure if I read my system correctly - thus I would appreciate your input.
Can this SSD be put into the ODD bay and get the 6GB transfer? I have a 13" i7 2,8 GHz, 4GB RAM MBP from 2011 and it seems that it has 6GB transfer in the optibay.

In the system info about Serial ATA it states:

about the HDD:

Manufacturer: Intel
Product: 6 Series Chipset
Transfer speed: 6 gigabites
Negotiated transfer speed: 3 gigabites
Description: AHCI Version 1.30 Supported

it's the same for ODD (except the negotiated speed)

Thanks in advance for your help. Really need it:)

This question has been oft-answered many times before, do a search on the forum first.

The Optibay may or may not support SATA3, it's the luck of the draw. The main drive bay (where your HDD sits) fully supports SATA3, however it's negotiated at SATA2 because hard drives cannot saturate the bandwidth of SATA2 as is.

Put the SSD in the main drive bay, then put the HDD in the Optibay.
