Need Quick Help MBP to Projector Not Working

I have a MBP 13 inch 2011. I have a mini-display port to HDMI adapter. I am trying to output my screen to projector which has an HDMI in. The projector is not receiving the HDMI signal.

Is there a button I have to push on the MBP to send the signal through the mini-display port?
