I am looking for a 4k display but want at least 30" or larger...this will be connected to my 2017 15" MBP...budget is < $1000...any recommendations?

Thanks!

Is your intent to run the display "pixel for pixel" (full resolution), or in HiDPI mode (as "4k on the Mac" is usually run) ?

For "pixel for pixel", you're probably going to want at least 40-43" display size, otherwise text and perhaps graphics as well will appear "too small" in native resolution.

For HiDPI, a display much larger than 27" will produce text/graphics "too large".

My opinion only.

Thanks for your reply. Currently I have a Dell U2412 display and basically I want (a lot) more screen real estate. So I thought with a 27" 4k display at native resolution the text/graphics would definitely be too small. Thus a 30" or larger 4k display. I don't know how to precisely compare but I was guessing a 32" 4k display at native resolution would not be all that different from my Dell U2412 (1920 x 1200 resolution 24" display). And I was hoping to avoid having to use a scaled down resolution. But 40" plus would be too large for my space/logistics requirements.

EDIT: Also note that I can only have one display, i.e. two 24" or 27" displays is not an option right now.

Any add'l insights are much appreciated!

Right. What I meant is that I am wanting to try a 32" 4k display at native resolution...

Better buy a good magnifying glass.
You're probably going to need it to see text displayed at normal sizes... ;)
