Hey everyone,

I just got my blackbook C2D today... I got it New In Box locally, but with no receipt. (guy said he got as a wedding gift and doesn't like macs) I went to Apple's website and looked up the serial number in this baby to make sure it wasn't stolen or anything crazy like that.

So.... it says it is covered until December 31,2008. If anything happens do I need the receipt to take it in to apple, or will they just look up the serial number and realize it is under its first year warranty still?

Thanks ahead of time for the answers...

I'm pretty sure you don't need a receipt. They'll look it up like you did.

They simply open the System Profile and use the Serial Number. I have been in to the store twice for minor things.

wow! That's great!

Anybody else have opinion/knowledge on this?

What further advice do you need? :p

Two people have already told you in here that you will not need a receipt to get the machine serviced under the warranty. You can also buy Applecare for it and extend the coverage to 3 full years and you wouldn't need a receipt for that either.

Now, if you wanted to return the Mac for a refund or something then I'm pretty sure you'd be out of luck without the receipt.

yes I buy my macs online and have had 2 instances where I havent taken the receipt, and one of them was even a keyboard on an imac where they simply swapped it :)

Who was arguing against you?

I think we've pretty much established in this thread that the machine does not need a receipt to get service under the warranty.

Typically no, although I'm sure your purchase receipt will extend the warranty from the manufacture date (what Apple has) to the date you purchased it. ...Helpful if you're ever cutting it that close.

oh no, your for it now! SaSaSushi the thread cop will have you for posting on here lol ;)

no one was, relax my friend.

I have to apologize. I read a "BUT" into the beginning of your reply that wasn't there. You were only adding your experiences and sorry I jumped down your throat.

I need to learn to read a little more carefully before pulling the trigger.
