need replacement HD for MBP 13

After trying to perform CPR on my hard drive, I have given up..I need to replace it and don't know if I should get the HDD or the SSD..

Right now I have the WD 500 drive and I don't understand the size difference for the flash drive space, ie. what would be comparable to the 500 size for storage..

Any suggestions?
 
500GB is 500GB regardless of HDD or SSD. If you need 500GB, definitely buy another HDD, as the SSDs of that size are over $1000
