Need safe Flip case to protect in my purse - 3G

I need a safe flip case that will protect my iPhone 3G in the bottom of my purse. I think that I need a flip case for the extra protection. I am afraid that my keys could crack the screen if it was not properly protected and left to bounce around.

I really want the Vaja, but they cost so much.

Do any other option exist that are of similiar quality, but a little cheaper. If I can't find an alternative, I will just buy the Sena.
 
I went ahead a purchased the Sena Magnet Case for my wife with a 20% off coupon, but now I want a case for myself that will protect the screen in my pocket.

I am just afraid to have my phone in my pocket with keys. I assume that the keys will crack the screen if it is not covered in a flip like case.

Any ideas?
 
someone must have some advice on a case that will protect an iPhone in a purse or in a pocket.

Remember, I am just afraid that the screen will crack if it is pressed against the glass.
 
I have and use a Vaja LE Black and Red case, which I highly recommend to everyone. I dropped my phone this past week from 4 feet, it hit squarely on its bottom corner, and it sustained no damage what so ever.

Sure $80 is a bit high, but it paid for itself in that one drop. Also, the look, fit, and feel of the quality leather cannot be beat by any other case.
 
need something more heavy duty

I've been looking for a heavy duty case, probably in a flip style. Normally I have my phone naked in my pocket, but I need something I can put in my bike seat bag, or in a backpack, and not worry about it.

I've looked at the Marware FlipVue, Sena MagnetFlipper, and pdo Flipp. Close, but they're just thin leather, with lots of exposures.

It needs:

1) To fully protect the phone, especially the screen, with no exposed corners. A rigid cover would be best.

2) No silly membranes on the screen.

3) Not too fancy/expensive. (No Vaja or Sena masterworks. It would just get ruined anyway.)

4) Rubbery shock protection, like an Otterbox or Speck PixelSkin, would be nice.

What I really want is the titanium clamshell a friend had for his Palm. That thing was totally bulletproof, but when you flipped it open you still had full access. Neoprene lined for shock protection. But I suppose the metal would mess with the cell/wifi signals too much.

Maybe something in a rigid Lexan, like the crystal cases, but heavier?

Dustproof and water-resistant would also be really nice.

This is sort of what I was thinking of. But there are three problems with the Liquid case:

1) You need a screwdriver to get the phone in and out of the case. Too much work for something I use sporadically.

2) The lid is only attached by a few magnets, and it's loose. It takes two hands to take it off and either hold it or snap it on the back. I'm sure I'd lose it eventually.

3) It's $99. The quality of construction might justify it, but geez...

If they made a version the iphone just snapped into, with some type of lid flip mechanism, and half the price, it would be perfect.
 
Well, my wife received her Sena magnet case. It is great for her, but would definately be difficult for a man to put in their front pocket.

I recommend the Element Liquid Case. I've reviewed my fair share of cases for my blog, and this is the best, by far. There are some pictures there, too.

Also, to address your concerns:

1) They include the allen wrench in the packaging if that is an issue. Honestly, I like it, because it keeps the phone locked in tight. That keeps it from rubbing and scratching. Unless you are the kind of person who is always removing their iPhone case, I really don't think it would be much of an issue.

2) The magnets used for the lid are strong enough to keep the flip lid secure inside a bag or purse. I am positive you won't run into any problems there. Also, when you are using the screen, the flip lid can be affixed to the rear of the case, just like how it is on the front, so that you do not loose the flip lid. Also, you can remove it with one hand. This sounds overly complicated, but its really a matter of sliding your thumb between the flip lid and the iPhone, then pushing up. Then, it just un-latches.

3. Yes, it is pricey, but in my opinion, its worth it. First, the craftsmanship and quality are REALLY good. Second, the level of customization is unparalleled, between the colors, and custom logo options. Third, this case is a tank, and is the only case you will ever need. Seriously, I could throw it across the room, and then run it over with our car, and the iPhone would be as pristine as when I screwed it into the case. Finally, they are scheduled to go into full production soon, which should result in price decreases. I know what you all are thinking, and no, I do not work for Element Case. I just reviewed it for my blog.

I've had an aluminum case for my iPhone and iPhone 3G. Don't do it! It totally kills your reception, like one or two bars at least. Stick with plastic, rubber, or carbon fiber. The speck PixelSkin is also nice... :apple:
 
The Piel Frama leather flip case is the ulimate iPhone 3g case IMO.

It's better than the Vaja by a long shot as it offers 100% protection to the phone and the leather is Triple AAA quality.

I too don't understand cases that leave the most vulnerable part of the iPhone totally exposed. If the screen suffers damage....thats catastrophic as far as I'm concerned.

And screen shields? Seriously what's a <1.0mm thin plastic film going to do in the event of a face down drop on gravel, corner of a desk etc
