Need some help getting to untethered?

Im running iOS 5.0 on a tethered jailbreak, when i try to update to 5.0.1 i keep getting the error " software update failed - an error occured downloading ios 5.0.1. Is there anyway i can jailbreak just 5.0?? i really dont want to do a whole restore..
