Need some help with unloking iphone 3gs

Hello everyone and sorry if this has been asked before
I have an iphone 3gs with 4.1 and modem firmware 05.15.04 I would like to get it unlocked but have been told that the only wat to do this is to upgrade the modem firmware to the ipad one is this true?
Are there any other way to unlock the phone maybe with a gevey???
any ideas or sugestions would be great
I am located in Canada and the phone is locked to bell thanks a million any help would be great

You can see if your carrier does IMEI unlocks or install the iPad baseband.
If you decide on the iPad baseband, read all the warnings and consequences, it cannot be undone.

Thans for ur help now for some unknow reason safari is not working on 3gs iphone if i do a restore using itunes that i use on my iphone 4s will this restore the 3gs and upgrade any software ir will it stay at 4.1 and will ma modem baseband change

You probably are on a tethered jailbreak
What did you use to jailbreak ?
Run Limera1n to untether

I doubt iTunes will allow you to restore an 4S backup to a 3GS

I bought the iphone 3gs for my sis few days ago the girl i got it from says its not jail broken nor unloked i dont know how to check if thats true so what should i do to restore it ?? And what version of itunes should i doeload i have a pc that doesnot have itunes i use my laptop for itunes for my 4s any sugestions and wojld you personally use the ipad firmware to inlock 3gs

If it is not working correctly and not jailbroken, you need to restore it to stock
Download the 4.1 IPSW from iPhoneWiki, use that to restore it to stock with iTunes, choose set up as new. Then test it.

Would simply pluging iphone to pc and restoring wont work keep in mind this is an used iphone but new to me
