i'm looking to get 2.1 speakers for around 100 dollars.

the thing i'm really interested in is a digital in, so i can utilize the digital out from the macbook [or my airport express]. [i've heard wonders about toslink]

i was also looking at different logitech models, though none had the digital in i was looking for.

also, if anyone has any special experience with their own speakers i'd love the input as well.

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Really is the way to go. I have the 400 watt Promedia from a while ago. 1 box with two 6.5 subs(160watts...Satellites 65 watts a peice.) ...I pretty much swear by Klipsch. I have a set of Klipsch Heresey's from 20+ years ago, and some MB Quart QL 502 S's sitting around. If you want some advice. Just PM me.
