Hi All,
I'll try to be brief.
I have Parallels 4.x (recently upgraded from 3.x), and have a weird connectivity issue from my WinXP virtual machine with trying to connect to certain web sites.
The two I am running into problems with that I know of are the Microsoft Update web site, and McAfee web site.
I can get to the initial MS Update website, but then when I click on either the Express or Custom buttons it just tries and tries to connect, and eventually times out. The specific error code I get is 80072EE2. When I search the MS KB for that code, all I get is a recommendation telling me that I need to add the various MS update URL's to my list of trusted sites. I have done so, and the MS update site even shows up as "Trusted" in IE, but it still won't connect.
With McAfee, I have a paid subscription for McAfee internet security, and I get to their main site, but when I try to login to my account, same thing - the next web page just tries and tries and times out.
In both these cases, watch the NIC activity icon on the Parallels window status bar, and it appears that no packets are ever going out. I watch iStat Pro on my Dashboard for NIC activity on my Parallels host, and also nothing shows up. I have the same issue regardless if I am trying wired or wireless.
I also completely disable Windows firewall, and that doesn't help either.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm a Unix guy, not too strong on Windows internals.
