Hello,

Simple question: is the w3690 the end of the line for single CPUs '09 or '10 MP, or is Intel going to produce more powerful versions in the same family?

Thanks!

Loa

I do believe they are done with LGA1366 socket and X58. Decommissioning soon.
I saw an i7-995x @3.6GHz but never materialized and never a Xeon variant.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. As I'm still very allergic to Lions, I'm looking to the future of my 10.6.x-able '09 Mac Pro. Going from a 2.66 quad to a 3.33 hex should be a very significant boost that would allow me to keep this mac for a long while still.

Thanks

Loa

I would not bother with the W3690 as it is $400.00 more for 133MHz clock bump and the tests I have seen net it even lower in real world. Feels more like 33-66MHz. I mean prices may drop but...
