Need suggestions about Hitachi 5K320

Does anyone have more info about this drive ? Western Digital costs around 130 bucks for the same capacity.

You can usually get at least 500gb for under $100, just look for some deals. A good site for finding deals that I go to is www.techbargains.com

Oops, I bought the Western Digital 320 Scorpio recently for $140 from OWC. And it's gone down to $125 (doh!). OWC (www.macsales.com) actually has your Hitachi at slightly cheaper with rebate. Go with either, or wait for 500GB prices to come down. Super easy to swap out HDD in MacBook, but you probably knew that.

i have that exact hitachi drive, it works great, you cant hear it spin, and also, the western digital drives have a conflict with the built in shock protection technology of the mac laptops

Just for the sake of curiosity, how confirmed is this conflict ? I found the same argument elsewhere but it does not seem to happen with many people.
