I am finally getting around to have a outdoor light and power outlet wired for the backyard.

I'd like to have the flood light also have a IP camera with it at the same time. Part of the problem is my parents don't have smart phones and they have to be able to use it like a normal video camera and be able to turn the light on and off via a switch.

I would prefer the camera to be compatible like generic IP Cameras, but thinking ahead, I wouldn't mind something compatible with home kit.

Im not crazy about wifi for the camera. I am willing to wire up the house with ethernet for the cameras and trying to avoid monthly subscription costs. I'd rather buy an NAS drive or computer and buy a UPS than pay monthly fees.

All this is new to me and I have been holding off waiting to see if Home Kit takes off, but it doesn't seem to be. Any suggestions?
