Need a shoulder bag to carry to the office/hospital/travel. Looking to carry:

iPad in sleeve or case
Documents not greater than 8.5x11
On occasion, a laptop up to 13 inches (not as critical)

I am looking for something professional, with as little bulk as possible, price ideally in the $100-150 range (will go higher for the right bag). Leather or canvas (durable).

I am thinking a messenger type bag or just a 13 inch laptop case with a shoulder strap, but would love something with a littler more style/functionality...

Any thoughts?

Looks good. So far, considering:

The Tumi bag above
The Padster Original iPad bag
The Tom Bihn Ristretto

Padster looks really nice. Not sure how would play with all the tumi bags in my closet!

I have quite a few bags hanging around, but always seem to come back to Timbuk2 or Waterfield (sfbags.com). I also have a Chrome Vega that I really like for my iPad, but it does not quite fit your requirements.

WaterField

1. Vertical sleeve (versus horizontal) which allows charging without having to remove from the sleeve.

2. Medium Cargo bag. Small is not large enough to also carry around 8.5 x 11 papers and folders. Large is, well too large. It will also hold an MBA and a 13" laptop.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Lots of great bags out there, and I got to check out a few I never heard of. I just ordered the Padster. It's a little bit bigger than what I originally wanted, but ultimately, the dedicated iPad sleeve/pocket did it for me. I will likely keep the iPad there full time, and add the laptop and charts to the main compartment day by day as needed...

I got a question about the Muzetto. It seems from the pictures that is has very little padding in the case particularly the bottom. Is that so?? It also looks like there is virutally no closures(zippers, velcro, etc) on the bag. Could somebody please comment...TIA

im considering the stm scout atm. i've got a chrome flux messenger, but it doesnt quite suit my needs.

I just recently ordered the Targus Miami Messanger bag

This way i can carry my ipad back and forth to work as well as my laptop if needed...

The bottom is padded by a thick leather ultimately. I've never had any worries. The leather flap is VERY heavy, thus no velcro/zipper there. Inside is a zipper compartment however.

Wow, ordered the Padster Sunday night, it arrived today by UPS. Came packaged in it's own bag for protection, and had a hand-written note addressed personally to me, thanking me for ordering the bag. Unnecessary, but very nice. Bag smells great - like quality leather, great buckles and stitching. Fantastic neoprene sleeve for the iPad that fits with the standard Apple case on it. Main compartment fits everything I need including laptop and documents. 2 outer zippered pockets for accessories, and little organizers for pens, business cards etc. Not too bulky - similar to the old Targus neoprene laptop cases.

Very happy overall by first impression.
