Need to burn DVD of imovie06 on PowerBookG4 :>(

As a new media specialist I want to be able to use imovie for a school project. I managed to purchase iLife06 since 08 and 09 were not compatible with my Mac. I have Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger on a PowerBookG4. I have no burner to use the iDVD program, and I need to have a DVD to play on the PCs at school. There are no Macs at the school. I can't afford a new Mac right now- what's the best fix? Most economical for my purposes since this is my nickel? External drive? Internal drive? Which ones? I'm a new user, so please don't overwhelm me with jargon. Thanks!

Almost any external DVD writers will work. They normally use USB as port connection.

Try MRoogle for some recommendations.

Being so new at this, I have no idea what a good buy would be or what the advantage of one burner over another might be. I guess I was hoping that someone with a PowerBook G4 15" might have purchased an external drive that works well and was a reasonable price- I hate to throw too much money at this since ultimately what I'm going to need is a new Mac! I bought a simple external USB DVD writer for my old G4 iBook, and it worked perfectly well.

I think it was of the LG brand, I have seen it around for 40-50€.

It has 16x DVD-/+R writing speed, 8x DVD-/+RW rewriting speed and it could even write to DVD-RAM.

It was a good machine, it took me 5-6 minutes to burn a full DVD -/+R (with 4.37GB of data).

It even had LightScribe.
