I was reading the rumors about a new iPod coming in August but I really need to buy an iPod today since im going on vacation,I dont wanna sit on a bus for hours with nothing to do :p

I just dont know if I should go for the iPod mini or a 15GB model(figured the mini would be a little more future proof if a new iPod is unveiled)
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

the current white iPod will still work in the future, even if a new form factor is introduced. if it fails to work in the future, you'll be covered by a warranty of one year, which you may extend to three years after original purchase date with AppleCare. potentially you're future-proof through 2007.

even if the new "big" iPod has a similar shape to the minis, the white one will still look nice.

Actually the iPod is a a birthday present from my girlfriend...She wants to buy it today,if she doesnt get me one I'll probably end up with something goofy lol. I guess I'll just go with the 15GB and sell it when the new ones are available. I would wait til August but the 4G's probably wont even ship til September/October.

well judging since it would take four weeks to get yourself an ipod mini, i would go with the 15gb ipod, it is a good player, i have owned a mini since day 1 and i love it, but if you need an ipod now, then the 15 is the best bet, but the mini is the nicest in my opinion

Your girlfriend is buying you an iPod for your birthday?! What happened to a home-cooked meal and a simple gift?

My girlfriend doesn't like to cook all that much, but that's okay, because I like to cook, so it all works out. ;)

Q: Will the new iPods be better?
A: Yes.

Q: Can you avoid advances in technology?
A: No.

Q: Will the current iPods work well in the future?
A. Yes

Q: Do you really want an iPod?
A. Yes.

I'd say go for the 15! (I'm going to get mine tonight too! Yaay for us!)
