Need to buy app twice?

If I buy an application from the App Store that will work on both the iPhone and the iPad, do I have to buy it twice if I want it on both devices?

No, universal apps only need be purchased once.

You can actually put Apps onto up to 5 devices(iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads) at once. I must be bored because I looked it up in the AppStore Terms and Conditions; see part 5.b.(iii)

Only apps where developer chooses to make a separate iPad app will you need to pay twice.
