Hi guys, I'm in the market for a display and found a 24" ACD which is pretty much mint condition (only 7 hours of use), with all accessories, paperwork and box and receipt for $500. Is that a good price for a used 24" ACD?

Also, my second question is, whether or not I should consider a used 27" ACD for $750... at $250 more than the 24".

Need to decide in a few hours since I'd like to pick it up this afternoon. Advice please!

the 24" is a great display. 500 is a pretty good price for it too :)
the 27" is much better then the 24" however. The resolution is amazing. considering they are 1000 new, its pretty cheap.

Id say go for the 27" :)

How much were the new 24" displays being sold for while they were out?

I own a 24" ACD. I wouldn't spend $500 for a used one - the seven hours of use notwithstanding standing; used is used - unless the price includes AppleCare. Otherwise, you'll be upside-down if you have to replace the logic board, etc.

Spend the extra $500 for the 27" ACD. Without AppleCare, a $500 24" ACD is a pig in a poke.

Apple refurbished sells it for 600 with a 1 year warranty so would agree 500 is not a good deal.

My experience with refurb displays hasn't been the best. I had to return a couple because of a significant number of dead pixels. I believe a lot of the refurbs are returns that people don't want because of those imperfections... Your mileage may vary but I will never buy another refurb cinema display. I will buy in-store with an edu discount, open and try it in the store before I leave.

$500 for a used 24" isn't a good deal either. If it were a used 27, I would jump on that!

Maybe in the USA they're cheaper, but here in Canada even the 24" ACD refurbished is $699 + tax which is nearly $800.

Maybe I'll buy one in the USA and sneak it across the border B)
