I want to turn off Legacy FileVault and it says I must clear about 50gb of space to do so, (this is after going thru and deleting things like languages and old apps, etc). My iTunes library is about 42gb.

I have a 1TB external hard drive I split into two 500gb partitions for backup of my MBP and my wife's PC. Her half has something like 386gb free.

Is it possible for me to create a third partition and put my itunes library (and maybe other huge files like videos, etc), turn off legacy file vault, and then put my itunes library back onto my MBP?

(I have had my MBP for about two years and, though i am pretty good with it and computers in general, for our purposes here I would go ahead and qualify myself still as a beginner at the whole fancy messing-with-mac/computer-stuff.)

Thanks!
