My 4s got stuck in restart mode for some reason and I'm trying to restore it. When I connect to iTunes with my phone in DFU mode it tells me to restore but it wants to update from 5.0.1 to 5.1 Obviously, I would like to stay jailbroken and don't want to update to 5.1. How can I do this?

Download the 5.0.1 ipsw and option+restore. I'm not sure that the signing window is still open for 5.0.1 though. If it is this should work. If you don't mind, post back if the signing window is still open.

Someone posted about an hour or so ago that they were able to restore to 5.0.1, but that was a hour ago. Best of luck to you!
EDIT: I just restored my wife's 4s to 5.0.1 due to the fact a jailbreak is not that important to her. As of 615pm CST, Apple is still signing 5.0.1
I didn't update iTunes yet, not sure if that will make a difference, but I guess we'll see. 27 minutes left on the download... come on, come on, come on.

It worked! Thanks for the info. I had done this before but couldn't remember exactly the steps. First time restoring from a Mac computer also.
