I have a PowerPC G4 (3.3) and need to max it out and make it faster, what do you guys recommend i do to it.I've updated all the software i could from the apple website (itunes, safari....etc.).

Hardware Overview:

Machine Model: Power Mac G4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.25 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 1.25 GB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.4.8f2

THANK YOU::apple:

Ram, HD and cpu upgrade.

Check your page outs, you may need more ram.

Then I would look into a newer 7200 rpm HD, although I don't know what you have. Raptor may be overkill, but perhaps a WD 1TB or 640GB black?

CPU upgrade I would be hesitant to recommend, as it it is just delaying the inevitable replacement. Look into changing out the processors and search on ebay. That could be a cheap improvement to go up to dual 1.25 or better.

Before I would spend anything on it, except for the HD as it can be reused later, I would ask if it meets my needs. If it does, then do some little improvements. If not, then just make a new computer purchase.

does your machine have FW 800, and 2 CPUs or no FW 800 and 1 CPU?
the PM G4 can support 2GB RAM, so max it out.

Upgrade power pc g4

Thats what i figured, but i just wanted to check and see if it made any sense. i have another machine (G5) but i wanted to keep this G4 for my office but it's always crashing (machine never reeboots or turns off only Software crashes). ill definitely get more Ram from Crucial.com and see if i can upgrade the os, but with 1.25 ghz i don't know if ill be able to. THANK YOU

Does you finder not respond? I have the same computer and it does that even with 2GB of ram running leopard. I find the computer freezes alot aswell.
