Need to record vocal

This is my first Mac and I'm learning a lot from this forum. Thanks to all who've helped so far. Got the 15" MBP and am loving it! I'm finally PC-FREE!!

Now, my question.
I need to record a few paragraphs of spoken word. Will the resident Quick Time do this, or do I need something else/better?

Remember, the audio jack is not a mic input, it's a line input.

Just did a short test. The resident mic in the MBP is adequate. Works fine, just need to play with the program to get familiar with it. Most excellent!! Thanks again.
