Need to Replace

I have a buddy who shattered his screen and got it replaced through amazon and followed youtube video on how to instal it. So everything is working fine with it. He was having some ear speaker issues before dropping the phone but never took it to apple for replacement(he has applecare but lives over hour from store) It has gotten worse and now want to make the trip and get it replaced.

My question is when he brings in to them will they know he has an aftermarket screen and will that null his applecare warranty?
