Hi. I am running a 2008 (3,1) MacPro with El Capitan installed as the primary OSX. However, I need to run some older software which requires Snow Leopard (Adobe Premier Pro CS5). I do not have the minimum system requirements to download all of Adobe's up-to-date Apps from Creative Cloud (I appreciate the machine is old and requires replacing but having been out of work for 9 months this is not an option).
So I 'simply' want to be able to install Snow Leopard on a partition or second hard drive that I can boot into when required. I have tried booting from the Snow Leopard install disk which allows me to get to the point of installing the software only for the message pane to read 'Install El Capitan from disk?' So I removed the El Capitan SSD to leave the second SDD intended for Snow Leopard. I booted again using the Snow Leopard install disk only to receive the same message 'Install El Capitan from disk?'. So I then removed the ethernet cable (along with the El Capitan SSD) and then received the message (or something similar to) 'Apple requires access to the internet to verify your machine'. So I then made a DMG file of the Snow Leopard install disk and copied this to a flash drive. I replaced the El Capitan SSD and ethernet cable and booted from the flash drive. Again I got the message 'Install El Capitan from disk?'. Obviously I'm doing something wrong because it appears plenty of users with old Macs manage to run two (or possibly more) operating systems.
I would be so grateful for any help to allow me to do the same! Thanks in advance.
