I recently bought a powermac G5. It runs great and was a good investment but I did not get the system password and the guy wont respond and provide it to me. How can I reformat the machine. I also did not get any discs with the purchase. Can I just buy restore discs? or will I need to completely wipe it and start over?

You could look for the restore discs, but you are better off buying a copy of Leopard and just erasing the drive and doing a reinstall. Look on eBay for a copy.

Call AppleCare and explain the situation. They may send you some fresh restore disks. Sometimes they will give you a Leopard disk, like they did for my G5.
