I can't seem to find anything on how to do this. My iphone is not jail broken or anything so if anyone has instructions that tell me how to do this with my laptop, please post them up!

Thanks.

Netshare app. But it's gone from the store, so nada :) Unless ya jailbreak and grab a copy of it floating around.

I will do whatever it takes, I just need instructions and links how to do it.

Jailbreaking isn't too "hard" per se, but it is a multi-step process.

Searching the intarwebz (there are a bunch of tutorials out there) will be faster than waiting for someone to write a step by step for you.

good luck!

I tried but kept finding tutorials for the older iphone not the 3g. :(

Seems a few per the responses might be having issues. I will probably wait a bit to make sure others can do it on 2.1 successfully. :(

What responses and were?
Tons of people have JB 2.0 & 2.1 phones with no issues.
PDANET on the JB phones seems to work well.

A jailbroken 2.1 iphone w/ pdanet seems to work well from what I've read... but I'm still wondering if anybody has been reamed by AT&T for tethering without an appropriate plan to do so. If this program somehow gets around this issue I would love to know how.

Netpda is the absolute best app to do this, you dont have to mess with proxy!

The key is to behave while tethered.
AT&T will know what your doing when they see you pulling 2gigs+ a day via bit torrents or ftp`ing that same amount.

As for PDANET getting around, its on Cydia installer and junefabrics has it listed on their site. They (junefabrics) are pretty well known for their tethering programs.

PdaNet rocks!
I don't care much about Winterboard and themes but PdaNet alone is worth jailbreaking for me. In fact I am replying on the macbook tethered via PdaNet.
