need to unlock iPhone 4 for international travel

Hi everyone,

I need to unlock my iPhone because I have some international travel to do and want to swap the sim out. I don't care about jail breaking, just unlocking. I would like to use on of the many tools available online (i don't mind paying) but have no idea which one to use. Any suggestions?

I too was looking to unlock (to use on T-Mobile, though), I'm thinking about buying a phone off of Craigslist. It's an iPhone 4, and the guy says it has iOS 5.1 and baseband 04.12.01. Is there any way to unlock this, or is my time better spent elsewhere?

There's nothing that can unlock your device right now.
 
damn

i also have modem firmware 04.12.01 on an iPhone 4. so it sounds like I just need to trade in/up to an iPhone 4 or 4s factory unlocked.

If I am not wrong, 04.10.01 is the last BB on the iPhone 4 that can be unlocked using the Gevey SIM. As already mentioned, with BB 04.12.01, you are SOL.

You don't need to be jb to use a gevey.
The highest bb on an i4 that can be unlocked is 04.10.01
Anything higher than that you cannot.
 
Unlocked 4

I bit the bullet and bought a second unlocked 4S from the apple store. No more worries about support, baseband levls, etc. worked great while i was in europe with a vodaphone, tmobile germany and virgin micro sim payasyougo .....

Yes, you can never unlock a verizon iphone 4. Those are CDMA only iphones. They dont even have a sim slot so I dont know how you thought you could use it internationally to begin with.
GSM or AT&T iphones on certain baseband versions can be unlocked, not any AT&T iphone 4.
So do your research so you dont waste your money.

oh... got it. how about sprint. I asked the seller. he said his iphone 4 has a sim slot.

i understand the baseband versions. did not know verizon iphone 4 dont have sim slots. yea i am trying to ask and get as much information before i buy it from anyone. dont want to get stuck with a iphone i cant use

The Sprint CDMA iphone 4 has no sim slot either.
The Sprint iphone 4S does have a sim and if its unlocked officially by sprint for international use you can use the GSM side with any carriers sims outside the US.
But you gotta make sure the original owner has requested an unlock for international use. Same goes for the verizon 4S iphones.
If the network didnt unlock it for international use and the seller just lies to unload it when you go outside the US and stick an international sim it wont accept it.
Your best bet would be to buy a factory unlocked iphone 4 or 4S.
You want to risk getting a CDMA iphone for cheap most likelly you will get a blacklisted lost or stolen US CDMA iphone that will not work with any international sims.
Up to you and the risk you want to take. Its your money.

okay, that all i need to know. pretty much only stick to at&t with older base band and 5.0.1 or older. thank you
 
Sorry for "reviving"" old" thread but had a similar question and did not want 2 start a new thread ..

What would my best deal be for unlocking an AT&T Iphone 4 iOS v. 4.3.3 firmware version 04.10.01 ? ..

Thank you in advance & sorry if its 2 old lol . (Preferebly Software..)..
