Aloha everyone! I tried to browse for this topic quickly, and didn't see a post, so I apologize if this is a repeat.
I have an early 2009 macbook pro with I think OS 10.5.6 that I haven't upgraded ANYTHING on. LOL its just been a glorified picture holder/dvd/netflix/hulu player. I know so sad. Well, the internet has finally forced me to upgrade since I can't install the new flash without the newest OS. I have also filled my 512 GB hard drive, so I need a new hard drive and the newest OS. It seems as though I have to buy and install snow leopard first, then upgrade to mountain lion. I have my hard drive backed up with a WD 1 TB external hard drive. I am looking to get at least a 1TB drive, but I'd do a larger one if the price was right (trying to stay below $250-300). I thought I found one on the Mac website, but that is for the Mac Pro not the Macbook Pro (not sure if I can use that or not). Any suggestions on what to buy?
Once I have everything purchased, what is the best order to do all this in? Install the new hard drive, restore, then upgrade the OS? I've never done a restore on a Mac before, but I've heard its much easier than on a PC, but I have no idea what to expect. I might have my original restore discs, but I was told I wouldn't need them. Anyhow, if you can guide me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it!
