Need urgent advice on 2nd hand iMac

Hi all. So as the title says I need some quick advice on an iMac I'm looking at 2nd hand to buy this evening.



The Mac is a 21.5 inch model, mid 2011, 500GB HDD, comes with wireless keyboard and track pad. 2.5GHz Intel core i5 with 4GB ram. Running Yosemite also.



Seller is asking £320.00. But I may be able to get him down a tenner or two.



Can you guys advise on whether or not this is worth it?



The iMac would be used mainly for essay writing, internet surfing, the odd film, iTunes. Nothing too strenuous.



Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No idea what prices are like in the UK but that sounds pretty reasonable if not a little low. I sold my 2011 27" iMac for around the equivalent of $900 USD just under a year ago.
If you can get him to go below 300, there's nothing wrong with the machine, and the seller seems legitimate (doesn't seem like it's stolen), then I'd say that sounds like a pretty slick deal.

Forgive my American conversion, but $500 for a mid 2011 iMac is still pretty good. I have two (one from 2008 and one from 2009) that are running well, and if you get Mactracker, it shows that it still has plenty of life left in it.

(Upgradable to 32GB, Thunderbolt port for an external display, additional HD aren't that expensive).

I would definitely go for it.

Thats a bargain here in the UK they are still going for £500 to £600.

I just purchased a 2011 21" iMac for a friend off Craigslist for $500, so that seems like a pretty solid deal to me! I still use a 2.7GHz i5 2011 21" iMac as my main machine - tricked out with a homebrew Fusion Drive and 32GB of RAM, this machine screams along and should continue to do so for years to come!

i got a good deal on a 2011 27" iMac i7 3.4ghz 16gb ram 2TB hdd for $700 yesterday. If you keep searching craigslist you will get lucky sometimes!
