NEF files loading slow in retina Macbook Pro

I recently switched from a 2012 13 inch Macbook Air to a 2012 retina Macbook Pro 15 inch. Both have flash storage.

On my Macbook Air Quick Look would immediately pop up the NEF files but on my Macbook Pro it usually takes seconds longer. One would think the opposite since the processor is faster and twice as much RAM or is it slow because of the screen resolution?
