Traditionally I was of the opinion to develop your camera raw files in their own Nikon or Canon or whoever tool, then take them into photoshop to edit them, then export them to .TIF for printing or whatever.
Nowadays I am putting all my new photos straight into Lightroom, and using iPhoto less and less to manage them. I get a very slight space saving for .DNG compared to .NEF so I'm not bothered by that, What I want to know is some pros and cons of the formats... Do you guys find working with .DNGs faster than your camera's Raw files? Have you ever found any serious loss of meta-information after conversion? Are your resulting pictures the same?
My thoughts at the moment are "if Aperture and Lightroom can open my NEF files then why bother change?" but as I am reviewing my workflow at
the moment i would like some up to date opinions from the community.
