When I got on my computer this morning it seemed that it had been restarted, no programs were open except for startup programs. I opened neooffice and the auto-recovery window came up with the document I have been working on. The recovery was successful, except it was a version I had saved four days ago. I don't recall specifically saving the doc after that time, but auto-save is enabled so I don't know why the older version was recovered.
After some preliminary searching it seems like temp files may be what I am looking for to try to recover but there is no neooffice folder in the library and cache folders.
I would really be grateful if anyone could help as I had spent quite a few hours working on this paper this weekend.
