Neoprene Sleeves Pros v Cons

I wasn't sure if this was the right place, so please move if you feel the need.

So obviously I'm wondering what the pros and cons of neoprene sleeves. I only know a little about it.

Pros
- Water Resistant

Cons
- Little shock absorption (Not huge factor since it will be in my backpack)

Please add or correct me about neoprene sleeves.

I have one for my macbook, but only to protect against scratches. I would not expect it to provide any protection from any appreciable impact.

Can have pockets for extra stuff

Con
Dosent provide protection from much more than scratches
When you take it out, your computer is naked and can be scratched
