Net Send -- How?

Hi there,

Could somebody please explain how to net send in plain english from one mac to another mac? I'd like to do it without having to open programs on both computers, meaning only open one program on one computer, but I'd be okay if I had to open one program for each computer. Hope that made sense.

Please be specific.
