Netflix + Chicago post office = bad news?

I signed up for a free Netflix trial last week. Since then, I've received four movies. Two of these discs arrived completely cracked in half! I'm wondering if it's just me, or if other Chicago Netflix-ians have had similar problems.

My post office is notoriously bad, even by Chicago standards. But a 50% failure rate seems pretty high. Egads.

I go to college down there, and I found the USPS to be notoriously bad with any kind of mail, so I ended up canceling in November. I recently signed back up because I'm home for the summer, and I'd really like to continue receiving it when I'm back in the fall, but I just don't see it happening.
