netflix choppy audio

when i watch netflix on my macbook pro the audio seems to be choppy. i thought that if i turned off the hd for the shows i was watching the audio would improve, which it did not. if i watch videos on youtube or on hulu they work just fine. i have a 2011 mbp 13" the browser i am using is chrome. does anyone know why this is happening only with netflix?

Netflix uses a different technology for video streaming.

In some other thread it was reported that Safari and Firefox give a better performance for netflix.
