Had this today, thought I would watch snatch so I called up the search bar in Netflix app and pressed the speech search.

Asked for 'Snatch' and it gave me the option to go to the TV app and buy or rent it.. was about to maybe go with that because maybe it wasn't on Netflix and thought I would check again. Search by text and sure it's there for me to watch with my subscription.

I'm pretty sure the speech search has worked with the app so far.. quite amazed at this.

Are you sure you selected search before using Siri or could you of just highlighted search without selecting it instead?
I’ve just tried it and works fine.

As Gonzo said, to search from Netflix you must have selected search and be positioned on the Netflix search bar.
If you are not, it will do just a normal Siri search.

It works fine for me too.

I've done this on accident a few times myself,
when you're set up to "type" into the search bar it should say "hold <siri button> to dictate speech" in the search bar. Another good way to tell, if you're dictating to the search bar you'll see a "waveform" made up of a bunch of vertical lines in the search bar as you talk. If you're doing a global siri search, you'll see the multi-color siri blob in the bottom center of your screen
