I have installed Netgear Genie and would like to know if it is possible to view the broadband/network usage in a small window on the desktop. I have SurplusMeter also which works ok but does not show any wifi usage as I understand. As I am on a usage cap I want to see stats for when family are streaming music/video etc.

I have never been able to open the Netgear Genie software on my iMac. Have tried several times but always get a message that the program can't be opened.

That might be due to what your Mac OS version is. I am running OSX 7.5

I would always recommend Surplus Meter for showing the Mac usage is as I am wired via Ethernet to my Mac and it shows on my desktop with a graphic displaying all my usage through this. Unfortunately it does not show any wifi connections so cannot give a complete readout. I also notice that Netgear Genie registers all activity on my network including the sending of files to my wifi printer which can be useful but not what I want.
