Netowrk Printer

Hi,

I have a network printer set up on a PC running Win XP...

I have Used network printer for years with PC's...


Just switched to a Mac...

I am trying to print to this printer from my iMac... I have no idea where to start???

I was able to network the PC and Mac... (share files...) but I don't know where the printer is at...

If your Mac is connected to the same network as your printer, go to...

System Preferences -> Print & Fax -> Click the 'add printer' button (looks like a "+"), wait a minute and it should show up in that list.

If it does not, and you know the IP address of the printer, you can try entering it manually by clicking 'IP Printer' (at the top).

I tried going into the Print setup area and clicked the "+" button... I waited for a while butt nothing showed up...

I then clicked... (I think it was browse and found the Netowrked PC the printer was hooked up too.)

It then opened a new window asking me for the printer name so I typed in "K550"..

I clicked ok and it appeared it had found a printer... So I tried to print something and blank pages started shooting out of my network printer... There was weird gibberish text on a few sheets...

I quickly turned off the printer, and here I am now asking you for help.

I am sorry for my ignorance, but I am very new to the Mac world.

So far I am very happy I made the switch and everything has been a breeze! But this has me stumped...
